Commissions

I've completed several artwork commission in the past and continue to get requests. So I'm really excited you're considering me to work on your next commissioned piece, and the prospect of creating a unique, personal and custom painting just for you.
Its truly the most rewarding part of being an artist.
It's a simple process, but as you might expect, to get rolling we need to get on a call and discuss your needs - one-on-one. This is a great opportunity for me to hear your vision and enthusiasm for your piece, and we can discuss what works, what doesn't - and all things in between.
I'm interested to hear what aspirations you might have for the artwork, and where will it reside once it's complete, for example. I'm sure you have a ton of questions for me too. So let's have a chat to see if we can start bringing your vision into reality, and get a beautiful piece of artwork in your hands!
I've listed some of the questions I have for you below, to get you thinking...
So let's start discussing this exciting project.
First Things, First ...
1. Please set up a 30 minute meeting at a time that works for you, using the link provided below to book time on my calendar. It doesn't cost anything, but it will give you the option of when you want to meet relative to my availability. Simple, convenient and Done.
I'll send you meeting info by email once I get the meeting invite. We can have a phone call or video call, depending on your preference.
just let know in the meeting message.
2. To make best use of your time and mine when we meet (and I'm of course open to providing guidance if not entirely sure), consider the following:
-
- High-quality archival pigment paints and pouring mediums
- Gallery-wrapped Canvas (2” depth) - your size prefererence
- Finish: Professional UV-barrier varnish in either gloss / satin / matte
-
- Up to $200
- Between $200 - 600
- Around $1000
- $1000 - $2000
- More than $2000
Dimensions - What size you might be considering :
-
- Small - e.g. 12" x 12"
- Medium - e.g. 15" x 30"
- Large - e.g. 24" x 36"
- Extra Large - 30" x 40" (or greater)
Detailed Description:
What scene, image or kind of abstract do you want?
Maybe not an easy question, but be as specific as you can.
Have you seen something you like and want something similar perhaps?
-
-
Think about the color palette you desire. Again, we can speak through all this, but try to have a rough idea - for example:
- cool colors (Greens, Blues)
- warm colors (Reds, Orange, Yellows),
- monochromatic (such as Black and White)
- other combinations
- Include any reference photos you may have seen similar in style (uploaded or sent via email is perfectly fine for photos and images you've seen online).

Intended Use for the Artwork:
Some examples:
-
-
- Corporate lobby display
- Entry way into the home
- Animal Portrait
- Personal gift

3. Once We've Discussed Your Needs:
I'll get started drawing up a Commission Contract for you, including a price estimate for the work - primarily based on canvas size, effort, and any other factors that affect the cost of preparation.
Our contract will outline the things we've discussed, and ensure that I've heard you correctly. Once we have both agreed and signed the form, my work begins.
While not the most fun part of the whole process, this is standard practice for artists and their clients to protect both parties. Working this way - helps protect both you and I for the following reasons -
-
- You won't pay for the artwork until it's in your hands - and you're 100% satisfied with my work.
- I cover my material costs, and some of the upfront work I've done in case you later decide you don't want to proceed to a finished work for whatever reason.
OK, that's the less exciting part out of the way - thank goodness. Now....
4. The Work Begins:
I'll get working right away to the timeline once we've agreed on the work to be done. This is the fun part - I'll check in to see if you like the progress periodically, and you'll get the chance to provide input and request revisions along the way.
5. I've Finished the Work - Lets get it delivered and into your hands!
Delivery: If you're local, I can deliver it by hand - I mean I'd love to see your reaction to the finished piece in person. If home delivery is unrealistic and not an option, I'll ship it to you and we can talk over a video meeting or over the phone - your preference.
Just be sure to capture the moment you see the finished artwork for the first time, if you can please - it's one of the joys of being an artist to see a client overjoyed with my work.
If - on the other hand - you're not overjoyed - there's an adjustment period for making some optional changes built into the contract - so don't worry.
Before you know it - you'll have a one of a kind, beautiful piece of custom art to show off to family, friends or colleagues.
So what are you waiting for?...
Simply drop a meeting on my calendar, and let's get you some brand new custom artwork in time for the holidays!
Warmest regards
Paul
